Modelling Diffusion - Math Modelling | Lecture 26

Follow
Jason Bramburger

In this lecture we are introduced to the diffusion equation, a partial differential equation that models the spread of particles over a onedimensional medium. The solution is provided and it is demonstrated that this solution can alternatively be derived from the central limit theorem applied to a Brownian process. We then use these theoretical results to model pollution spread after an airborne chemical is released by a facility neighbouring a town.

This course is taught by Jason Bramburger for Concordia University.
