Moimenta da Beira is located on a plateau embedded in the mountainous compositions of Serra do Montemuro, Serra de Leomil and Lapa, Planalto de Penedono. It is the ancient region of Beira Alta, with its granite cliffs and austere climate. The forests of the watercourses alternate with zones of low vegetation. If we travel from Lamego to Trancoso, along the National Road 226, we will pass by Moimenta da Beira and to get to know its historic center, turn left towards Pinhão in the city center. Heading south along the EN226, you will find Vila da Rua with several reasons to stop (S.Pelágio and its fountain, Pelourinho, Convento de S.Francisco, etc.).
