In a spectacular landscape of transition between the Douro valley and Beira Alta, in the municipality of Tabuaço, is this beautiful Romanesque chapel, with unique characteristics. The wedged place netween the rocky escarpment and the river Tavora, represents what was once a hermitage. It is related to a legend of the foundation of an old monastery, and the passion of a knight for the daughter of an Emir of Lamego city.
The sculptural quality of the chapel's portals, as well as the contact with an unusual construction from the 12th century, justifies a visit to the site. It is on the road that connects Tabuaço to Moimenta da Beira ..... another land to be visited. This road runs between this landscape of huge cliffs and pines, with some slopes full of vineyards and olive trees.
