The Monroe Clinic Rural Family Medicine Program opened in 2015 and is currently dually accredited through the AOA and ACGME. The program will have an integrated rural training curriculum starting in 2020 which will include training primarily at Monroe Clinic with 6 months of rotations at SwedishAmerican Hospital in Rockford, IL spread out over three years. The program has osteopathic recognition with ACGME and requires all residents have prior experience in OMT. The training curriculum includes an emphasis on procedures, critical care, simulation, and osteopathic manipulative treatment. Both the hospital and residency clinic are new facilities providing opportunities for interprofessional collaboration and high quality patient care. Two fellowships are offered in Hospitalist and Emergency Medicine.
