From his architecture to his political philosophies, this video will give you a better understanding of one of America's most influential figures. Jefferson was immensely intelligent and kept great records of his accounts at Monticello.

He did not take part in the War of Independence but instead was the Secretary of State in France.

There are some great facts about Jefferson, but perhaps his relationship and children with Sally Hemings is the most controversial.

The fact that he owned slaves is a massive bone of contention for us whilst walking around Monticello and we in no way condone this. It was an abhorrent time in America's history and one which Monticello handles with grace and class.
