MSD 780 2024 - Lecture 9 - The Dynamic-Q Optimization Algorithm

Follow
Dewald Hattingh

In the introductory lecture to Study Theme 4, we review the standalone DynamicQ gradientbased optimizer. Proposed by Snyman and Hay in 2001, this optimizer has seen useful application in complex engineering problems due to its simplified approach to optimum design formulations.

We focus on some analytical example problems to introduce the concept of gradientbased algorithms, and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the solver.
