Plantar Interossei (Pedis):
Origins:
Medial Sides of the Metatarsal Bones #3 to #5

Insertions:
Bases of the Proximal Phalanges (And the Dorsal Expansion)
The 1st is inserted into the Medial Side of the 3rd Toe
The 2nd is inserted into the Medial Side of the 4th Toe
The 3rd is inserted into the Medial Side of the 5th Toe

Functions:
1Adduction of the Toes #3 to #5 @ the MTP Joints
2Flexion of the Toes #3 to #5 @ the MTP Joints
3Extension of the Toes #3 to #5 @ the PIP & DIP Joints

Nerve:
Lateral Plantar Nerve

Activation: Adduction of the Toes #3 to #5
Lengthening: Abduction of the Toes #3 to #5g

Dorsal Interossei (Pedis)
Origins:
Each one arises from the Adjacent Sides of Two Metatarsals

Insertions:
Bases of the Proximal Phalanges (And the Dorsal Expansion)
The 1st is inserted into the Medial Side of the 2nd Toe;
The Other 3 are inserted into the Lateral Sides of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Toes.

Functions:
1Abduction of the Toes #2 to #4 @ the MTP Joints
2Flexion of the Toes #2 to #4 @ the MTP Joints
3Extension of the Toes #2 to #4 @ the DIP & PIP Joints

Nerve:
Lateral Plantar Nerve

Activation: Abduction of the Toes #2 to #4
Lengthening: Adduction of the Toes #2 to @4
