Superior Gemellus
Origin:
Ischial Spine

Insertion:
Medial Surface of the Greater Trochanter of the Femur

Functions:
1Lateral Rotation of the Thigh @ the Hip Joint
2Horizontal Abduction of the Thigh @ the Hip Joint

Nerve:
Nerve to Obturator Internus (From Sacral Plexus)

Activation: (Prone) Resist Lateral Rotation of the Hip (Bent Knee)
Lengthening: (Prone) Medial Rotation of the Hip (Bent Knee) (Stabilize Opposite Hip)

Inferior Gemellus
Origin:
Ischial Tuberosity (Superior Aspect)

Insertion:
Medial Surface of the Greater Trochanter of the Femur

Functions:
1Lateral Rotation of the Thigh @ the Hip Joint
2Horizontal Abduction of the Thigh @ the Hip Joint

Nerve:
Nerve to Quadratus Femoris (From Sacral Plexus)

Activation: Same as Superior Gemellus
Lengthening: Same as Superior Gemellus

Obturator Internus
Origins:
1Inner Surface of the Pelvic Bone Surrounding the Obturator Foramen
2Inner Surface of the Obturator Membrane
3Pubis
4Ischium

Lengthening: (Prone) Medial Rotation of the Hip (Bent Knee)

Quadratus Femoris
Origin:
Lateral Border of Ischial Tuberosity

Insertion:
Quadrate Tubercle of the Femur

Functions:
1Lateral Rotation of the Thigh @ the Hip Joint
2Adduction of the Thigh @ the Hip Joint

Nerve:
Nerve to Quadratus Femoris (From Sacral Plexus)

Activation: (Prone) Resist Lateral Rotation of the Hip (Bent Knee)
Lengthening: (Prone) Medial Rotation of the Hip (Bent Knee) (Stabilize Hip & Sacrum)
