Hood struts make it much nicer to work under your hood, since the prop rod won't get in the way.

This weekend I changed the oil in my 2021 Mazda CX30 2.5 liter nonturbo for the first time... and made a stepbystep DIY for you guys!

Important Notes: The manual says the oil capacity is 4.8 qt w/ filter change, but I ended up using 5.0 qt and it was just below the middle of the dipstick range. Also, Mazda uses 0w20 in some countries and 5w30 in others. Check your manual for the proper grade.

INCORRECT Bosch Filter (3330) that Amazon says is compatible with the CX30 (as of 8/16):

Of course, you can use other brands of oil, like Pennzoil, Quaker State, Castrol, and Valvoline; and other brands of filters, like Fram or K&N. Just make sure you get the right grade oil and size of filter.

Note: I used to be a Mobil 1 fan, but no longer use Mobil 1 oil in my Mazdas after it caused a massive 15% drop in mpg in my ND2 Miata (never seen anything like that from an oil change). The Miata is back to normal after switching to Royal Purple and is a bit smoother than before, so RP is my preferred brand now for both Mazdas.
