A look at my geocaching gear. It changes a little from time to time but the main parts are constant. We'll look at my "grab and go" basic kit which is suitable for urban caching or when caching from a vehicle. Then we move on to the contents of my hydration pack, this pack holds three litres of water and has 25 litres of storage area for gear. It is a small, light pack suitable for day use. It may be small, but I have a lot of gear stuffed into it.

Some of what I carry may seem excessive, and many geocachers would not routinely carry this much. The gear I carry reflects the environment I operate in. It also includes contingency items, if all goes well I will not need to use them. However if things go wrong I want to have this gear with me, it provides capabilites and options. It may seem a lot to take along, but it is not heavy and I prefer to be as self sufficient as possible. Plan for the best, prepare for the worst.
