Our morning in the Philippines on the island of Mindanao in the province of Surigao del Sur began with buying seafood from a local resident who sells fresh fish, shrimp, octopus, and squid. We bought several octopuses and squid, or rather cuttlefish.
We noticed some unusual orange tropical fruit on the tree, but didn't eat it because we don't know if it's edible or not. Here we eat fruits that we already know: avocado, dragonfruit, I got some apples. There is a mango. We bought a regular mango and came across an unusual big mango. Very interesting, let's try what it tastes like. Our pineapple is already ripe and the bananas from which I make a banana cake.
We rode a motorcycle to the nearby small town of Hinatuan to buy food and other goods. On the way, we washed the motorcycle and stopped at a cafe to eat Filipino durian halohalo.
It's called that because it needs to be stirred before eating. This is not just any ice cream. There are different ingredients here.
We bought groceries and headed home.
From the bread that I baked, Boria made kvass and gave it to our Filipino friends to try. They try kvass for the first time. They liked my kvass. I made a very tasty cuttlefish dish with ink. My husband really liked this dish. Incredibly delicious!
