I thought this video was lost forever! Let me explain a little over a year ago I headed out on a solo winter backpacking trip to an offgrid cabin in the middle of the woods. This was intended to be my first ever video after taking this channel independent from REI, but it was never uploaded to YouTube. Why? There were technical problems with the footage which forced me to delay putting the video out, and somehow during that delay all the footage was deleted. It felt like such a huge failure. My first attempt to make a video as an independent YouTuber had ended in disaster! But, in a wild twist, it turns out the video was not lost after all! I recently discovered I had a copy of the original edited video stored in my archives! And so I'm sharing this lost video with you today, along with some commentary about what went wrong. I think it's a great winter backpacking adventure worth sharing, and more importantly, a reminder that failing is an essential part of the learning process.
