Today my son is having his upsherin! Also called a chalakah, this Jewish ceremony is popular within Orthodox Jewish circles. In this ceremony, we cut his hair and he begins wearing a kippah / yarmulka and tzitzit. Due to the pandemic, it's a small affair at home, with family watching through video chats. I also sew a kippah in this video!
