My TOP5 places on Gabriola Island

Follow
Travelling with Manuel

I know now is not the time to travel but you should add Gabriola Island to your postpandemic travel list. Today I will present you my top 5 places on the island so far. I just live here since three weeks and could not explore the whole island so far hence it is just a selection of places I have been to so far.
1. Twin beaches
A really nice park with two beaches which face different direction. So one of them is always windless and protected enough to take a dip.
2. Berry Point
It is the northern tip of the island and an awesome viewpoint. You can see the Georgia Strait and the Entrance island. This island is home to a colonoy of sealions. You can hear them from Berry point and often see some of them at the shore of Gabriola
3. Elder Cedar
The Elder Cedar is a forest area with lots of old growth trees and nice streams. The 1,7km circuit is easy to hike and I really enjoyed the beautiful nature at this place
4. Sandwell Park
When I think of an ideal beach in the northwest pacific area it would look like the one at Sandwell park. It is huge with huge boulders and drift wood. The bay is well protected from the wind so I guess it is a nice place for swimming in the summer
5. Paradise Island Alapacas
The Alapaca farm I am working on is open to public on Saturdays. It is an ideal location to visit with children but even as an adult it is great fun to pet and feed all the animals here on the farm. Most of them got rescued and Taylor and Dave take good care of them. You can buy Alapaca wool products in a little shop as well as fresh eggs from the farm.
