I often receive questions about my watercolor plein air setup. Today, I needed to clean some sand off my tripod so I thought I would show you some basic components of my plein air gear. It's not fancy, but it does the job! Please turn on Captions or Transcript if you're having trouble hearing me.

The tripod I use is a Z669C carbon fiber tripod that extends to 60″, folds down to 15″, and weighs about 3 lbs. That specific model number is no longer available on Amazon but this one is pretty similar. https://amzn.to/3Bq3CT5

Just about any photographer tripod will work. You will want to measure how tall you need one to be. Also, check the weight and the length it folds down to.

The trickiest part of using a tripod for watercolor painting is determining how you will attach a board to the tripod mount and how you will use a tray.

If you want an allinone solution, check out the Advanced Series En Plein Air Pro Watercolor Package.
I have not used the Advanced Series En Plein Air Pro Watercolor Package but I have had students who have. https://amzn.to/2UZgvTm
