Namibia is a desert state about which little is heard internationally, yet it is one of the world's most functioning democracies. Few people know that, until the 1990s, Namibia was part of South Africa, that even before that it was a German colony, and, most importantly, that the first genocide of the 20th century, which “inspired” the Nazi Holocaust, took place on its territory.
