WHAT IS MUTATION?

Mutation is a property documentation procedure through which the previous owner of the property replaces his or her name with the new owner in the Khatiyen (Records of Rights)

WHY IS MUTATION IMPORTANT?
Without mutation, one cannot officially claim ownership of the property. Moreover, if owners do not mutate a property with the name of the new owner, the property can still be legal under the ownership of the previous owner.
