After months of conference calls, team hauler chats and boardroom negotiations to get a controversial NASCAR charter agreement on the books, all but two teams have reportedly signed the new seven year charter deal. 23XI Racing, owned by Denny Hamlin and Michael Jordan, and Front Row Motorsports have yet to sign. Hamlin has been the loudest owner of all to publicly voice his displeasure with the current NASCAR charter agreement.
Curtis Polk, who has a stake in 23XI, told FOX Sports, "This is a business, and we're not going to be coerced into signing something that we're not comfortable signing. It is a very onesided contract that is going way backwards from the charter that we've currently been operating under, and we just cannot sign something and do business in an environment where one side has so much power over the other side.""
Were the owners coerced? Legendary, NASCAR Hall of Fame team owners like Rick Hendrick, Joe Gibbs and Roger Penske certainly would allow such tactics, right?
