On February 15, 2024, North Korea abandoned its plan to unify the Korean Peninsula and at the same time renounced its territorial rights to the southern part of the Korean Peninsula (the area currently controlled by the Republic of Korea), so the lyrics refer to the entire Korean peninsula. The word "three thousand ri'' has been removed and replaced with "this world.''
Additionally, the title of the national anthem was revised from the current "Patriot Anthem," which has the same title as the Republic of Korea, to "National Anthem of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea."
