NATO Deploys Thousand Soldiers to Ukraine Immediately for Train Ukrainian Army

NATO partners shouldn't be concerned that deploying troops to Ukraine to train its armed forces could lead to a conflict between Russia and the alliance. NATO's Article 5 mutual defense clause would not automatically be activated in the event that Russian forces assaulted training personnel. According to Ukrainian and Western authorities, Kyiv has to train and enlist hundreds of thousands of soldiers in the coming months, and it would be more costeffective to do so domestically rather than sending soldiers and equipment to Poland or Germany and back. As Russian forces outnumber and outgun Ukraine, which is fighting to hold its defensive positions against a more powerful and wellequipped army, European leaders are beginning to reassess how best to support Kyiv. The European Alliance would “get there eventually, over time,” on sending more troops to Ukraine.
