In the early days of Sprinter van camper conversions, the products and shared knowledge of these vehicles was thin. Many DYI builders used available materials and technologies, naturally.

For this 2016 4x4 Sprinter Passenger van it meant a single Optimum battery, tiny 12v cooler, propane tank and a Propex cabin heater. The bed system used galvanized poles, and 2x4s. Being a passenger van, we deleted the auxiliary air conditioning system to free up headroom. At the rear, we opted for the sturdy and easy to use Adventure wagon Moab bed. For cabinetry our Saga modular cabinets fit nicely, and house a generous 4.6cu in. Isotherm 12v Fridge. Powering the electrical side of things is our alternator and solar charged 48v battery bank.

For hot water and coach heat, we chose the efficiently packed Van Life tech system. Once completed this Sprinter Van will provide all the creature comfort needed for another decade and more of travel.
