Ned Howard presents 'Introduction to MultiElement Geochemistry in Exploration' at the GSA SGEG Facets of Exploration Webinar.

Abstract: Multielement geochemical data can provide a wealth of useful information on exploration and mining projects, whatever the geological environment, target commodity, surface environment or sample medium. Getting the most out of your recent or historic multielement data requires an understanding of the behaviour of chemical elements and minerals during geological processes, their scale of relevance and the influence of analytical methods, sample media, etc on your data.

This talk will introduce fundamental concepts and applications of multielement geochemical data to exploration and ore body characterisation and address some of the common challenges and mistakes associated with sampling, program design, analytical methods, visualisation, pattern recognition and knowledgebased interpretation.

Bio: Ned Howard holds a lead geoscience role at Evolution Mining where he has worked for the last 9 years. He oversees Evolution’s geoscience initiatives and provides support to exploration and mining teams to solve geological problems and to generate and test exploration targets. He specialises in geochemical and SWIR spectral applications to exploration and ore body knowledge across a range of gold deposit styles. Previously, Ned worked as an exploration geologist with Barrick and junior companies in Australia, PNG, Indonesia and Canada.
