Summary:
Nephrotic syndrome is characterized by an excess amount of protein in the urine
Nephritic syndrome is characterized by an excess amount of blood in the urine.
Causes nephrotic syndrome: focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, membranous nephropathy and minimal change disease
Causes nephritic syndrome: IgA nephropathy, lupus, Goodpasture's disease, polyarteritis nodosum and Wegener's granulomatosis.
Treatment: Diuretics, ACEinhibitor, corticosteriods
