On June 11, 2024, the Dutch Ministry of Defense announced a significant upgrade to its mechanized infantry units with the procurement of Mjölner 120mm selfpropelled mortars. These advanced systems, manufactured by the Swedish company BAE Hägglunds, are based on the CV90 infantry fighting vehicle (IFV). This strategic move aims to establish a robust, layered groundbased fire support system to bolster the operational capabilities of Dutch armored infantry units against light armored threats and dismounted enemy infantry.
