00:Introdution
2:32 Hilton's Law
The nerve trunk that supplies a specific joint also supplies the muscles of the joint, as well as the tendons, skin and related muscles. The source of pathology may be coming from deeper and/or other structures that are connected by shared nerves.
3:24 Pfluger's Law of Unilaterality
If a mild irritation is applied to sensory/afferent nerves the spinal reflex/muscle contraction occurs typically only on the side of the spinal cord that is irritated (one side)
4:25 Pfluger's law of Symmetry
If the irritation is increased sufficiently the contraction/reflex is manifested in similar muscles on the opposite side of the body (both sides)
5:00 Pfluger's law of Intensity
The spinal reflex/ contraction is usually more intense on the side of the irritation
5:40 Pfluger's law of Radiation
If the irritation continues to increase, it spreads upward along the spinal cord one segment at a tine above the level of the injury. It can eventually reach the brain
6:30 Pfluger's law of Generalization
The culmination of radiation when irritated reaches the brain. The medulla oblongata stimulates the entire spinal cord causing a general contraction of all muscles in the body (hyperalgesia/stiffness, ischemia)
7:57 ArndtSchultz Law
Moderate or low level stimuli activate physiological processes while very strong stimuli inhibit them (This is why less is best). Strong pressure with longer duration tends to have a sedating effect while lighter & faster pressure tends to be more stimulating.
10:13 All or Non
Nerves will have either a full response or a total lack of response to a stimulus depending on how strong it its. Neurons cannont be partially stimulated. The threshold is different for every person and even to different areas on the same body.
I use the scale of 1 through 10 to find out how much pressure I can use on that particular body area. It is best to keep the pressure at a 5 and hold using static pressure for up to 20 seconds. I will be describing this more specifically in future videos.
