The diagnosis of neuropathic pain requires a targeted history and physical examination, which includes sensory testing. This video is a demonstration of 3 sensory tests light touch, pinprick and dynamic mechanical allodynia on a patient with possible radicular back pain. These sensory tests may be performed for patients with all neuropathic pain presentations (comparing painful areas to nonpainful sites/areas).
