The Lexus LX, a staple in the luxury SUV market, is making a bold move with the introduction of the electrified LX 700h for 2025. This marks a significant shift for Lexus, blending luxury with hybrid technology. Unlike many modern hybrids, the LX 700h retains its powerful 3.4liter twinturbo V6 engine, now paired with a parallel hybrid system. This setup delivers a robust 457 horsepower and 583 poundfeet of torque, striking a balance between performance and efficiency. Lexus estimates a fuel economy of around 20 miles per gallon in the EPA’s combined cycle.

A key feature of the LX 700h is its dependable hybrid system. A motor generator with a clutch is situated between the gasoline engine and the 10speed automatic transmission. If the hybrid system fails, the SUV can still rely on its gasoline engine. An alternator powers the 12volt auxiliary battery, while a starter ensures the engine can start independently. This design guarantees essential functions, such as traction control and the adjustable air suspension, remain operational in challenging conditions.

In the U.S., the LX 700h exclusively offers the Overtrail trim, emphasizing offroad prowess. This trim comes with front and rear differential locks, 18inch allterrain tires, and enhanced waterproofing for the hybrid battery. Despite the added hybrid components, the LX 700h still boasts an impressive 27.5inch water fording capability.

Inside, the LX 700h features enhancements like a 12.3inch digital instrument cluster, newly designed front seats, and faster wireless charging. A waterproof 2,400watt AC inverter also provides external power, adding utility in emergency situations.

Set to arrive at dealerships by yearend, the 2025 LX 700h's pricing will be announced closer to its launch. For comparison, the standard LX600 starts at $93,915, with the hybrid likely positioned at a higher price point. This release showcases Lexus’s commitment to merging luxury with advanced technology for the future.
