I got in a new 3 point electric spreader for my John Deere 1025r tractor! This particular spreader holds 4.5 cubic feet of material. Not the biggest in the world, but certainly not the smallest. It's a good fit for a subcompact or compact tractor. There is also a smaller option designed for ATV's and UTV's. I'm really excited about this 3 point electric spreader for several reasons.

First, I know a lot of folks despise hooking up attachments to their rear PTO. I get it, it's an awkward location, you have to put yourself in an uncomfortable position, and sometimes those splines won't line up no matter what you do. This eliminates the need to deal with the PTO.

Secondly, since it has an electric motor, it allows for an adjustable spread pattern from as narrow at 5' to as wide as 45'. This gives you additional flexibility for applications which is always appreciated.

Lastly, this can be used for a wide array of wide materials. I've been searching for awhile for a relatively cheap spreading solution that can be used both in the summer and winter. Used for grass seed, fertilizers, and ice melting pellets. Again, I like flexibility and versatility.

The main reason for using the electric spreader on my 1025r today is to try and repair dead spots in my lawn that have been killed by dog urine. I love my dog Rosie, but the dead spots are driving me nuts! Long term, I think I need to keep trying to train here to go elsewhere, but for now I'm trying some suggestions made by others online.

I'll be spreading Gypsum on my lawn which has many other benefits as well as potentially preventing burn from dog pee. I'll also be trying out a newer product called Carbon G by Lesco. You'll have to watch to see how it all goes!
