More than 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease today and that is expected to skyrocket to 16 million by 2050, according to a report released this week by the Alzheimer's Foundation. The research also reinforces earlier findings about the prevalence of the illness in women, who have a one in six chance of getting Alzheimer's disease in their lifetime if they live past age 60. The odds in men are one in 11. In this video, Dr. Paul Eslinger, a neuropsychologist at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, discusses the findings as well as risk factors for the disease and some potentially promising treatments for earlystage Alzheimer's.
