Mazda's clever little MX30 REV is a Plugin Hybrid, but not as you know it. The Mazda's unique rotary engine never actually drives the wheels. Instead, its role is to create energy for the 168bhp electric motor which ultimately powers the car. It's a bit like Nissan's ePower system, but this car can also be plugged in, with a battery pack offering around 53 miles of pure EV range. Sounds promising.
