A 19 year old woman Alexee Trevizo from New Mexico, has been charged with first degree murder and tampering with evidence in connection with the death of her newborn son in January 2023. After going to the emergency room for back pain, she was found to be pregnant and in labor. Alexee gave birth to a boy in a hospital bathroom, then concealed the baby in a bag and placed it in a trash can. By the time the baby was discovered, it had already died leading to an autopsy ruling it as a homicide. Alexee's attorney Gary C. Mitchell, claims his client has no prior criminal record and argues that the hospital staff unknowingly administered powerful drugs failing to realize her pregnancy, which contributed to the unusual circumstances. A court hearing is scheduled to review her release conditions later this year. This case follows another recent high profile incident in New Mexico where a mother Alexis Avila, was convicted of throwing her newborn into an outdoor trash receptacle in 2020, but the child survived and Avila received a 16 year prison sentence. #short #shorts
