RENAULT 5 ETECH ELECTRIC, THE NEW FACE OF THE ELECTRIC REVOLUTION
What better than a pop icon to popularize the electric car in Europe?

A phenomenal car avantgarde, versatile and economical the Renault 5 has been able to accompany millions of families through the challenges of its time: the oil crisis, the change in uses or even the arrival of a second car in the home. Faithful to this heritage of crazy modernity, Renault 5 ETech electric boldly responds to the societal and environmental challenges of its time sobriety, durability, reduced carbon footprint.

To recreate in the production vehicle all the appeal of the show car presented in January 2021, the design, engineering and product teams worked together, in commando mode, using a reverse "from sketch to street" process. While vehicle design is usually constrained by the platform on which it will be based, this time the engineers had to imagine the platform that corresponded to Luca de Meo's favorite: a resin model imagined by "Advanced Design". Renault 5 ETECH electric is the first vehicle entirely designed on AmpR Small, the new Ampere platform dedicated to Bsegment electric vehicles. This makes it a unique vehicle on the market, benefiting from marked competitive advantages: flat floor, long wheelbase (2.54 m), optimized habitability and trunk volume (326 liters), lowered center of gravity, contained weight (less than 1,500 kilos), etc. The AmpR Small platform has also enabled numerous economies of scale without compromising on electrical components and technologies useful to customers. This disruptive and unprecedented approach in the company has also made it possible to reduce the development time to just three years.

Renault 5 ETech electric thus inaugurates a new bidirectional AC charger compatible with V2L (vehicle to load) and V2G (vehicletogrid) technologies. This latest pioneering system, which is set to become widespread, will enable the vehicle to become a real player in the energy ecosystem via Mobilize services, by wisely reinjecting decarbonized electricity into the grid. The user benefits from significant savings on their electricity bill through this system.

Under the hood, the electric motor of Renault 5 ETech electric is more compact than that of Mégane ETech electric and Scénic ETech electric from which it is derived. It remains faithful to the preferred technology used by Renault: wound rotor synchronous. Without permanent magnets, it does away with rare earths and thus reduces its environmental impact. This engine, which benefits in terms of sustainability from the experience of its predecessors, will be offered in three power levels: 110, 90 or 70 kW.
Intuitive and warm
In addition to Google's connected services, Renault 5 ETech electric inaugurates the interactive avatar Reno, a true traveling companion, intelligent and friendly. Developed by Renault to facilitate and enhance its customers' experience in electric cars and make it more intuitive, Reno has a real personality. It responds to user questions and commands (for example: "Hey Reno, schedule an 80% charge for tomorrow at 8 a.m." or "Hey Reno, how can I optimize my autonomy?") and gives the vehicle a relational signature full of empathy.
Renault Group has made the committed choice to produce Renault 5 ETech electric in France – including its battery from March 2025. Each vehicle and the batteries will be assembled at the Douai factory, which was one of the production sites of the original Renault 5, with an engine (electric machine, reducer, power electronics) manufactured in Cléon and modules produced in the Douai Gigafactory (Envision AESC partnership) from summer 2025. By 2030, these will have a carbon footprint reduced by 35% compared to those of ZOE. In addition to the Evolution and Techno finishes, the Renault 5 ETech electric range will be topped by a version called "Collection", named according to the principles of haute couture to evolve each year. For the launch, it will be Iconic Cinq. Many new customization accessories, including 3Dprinted stripping and storage, make this model highly customizable.
