Skywheels Rotor Blades

Two newly manufactured Skywheels rotor blade sets were flown for the first time at Chillicothe Municipal Airport in Chillicothe, Missouri, on Friday, July 10, 2020. One blade set was 24ft. flown by pilot Bill Kieffer, and the other a 25ft. blade set that pilot Greg Bradley flew. Each Skywheels blade set was paired with an Air Command gyroplane. One gyroplane was centerline thrust and the other a high thrust line gyroplane. The test pilots have 50 years and 35 years respectively flying gyroplanes and other aircraft. The video includes a detailed pilot report from each pilot and their individual experiences from flight work completed earlier in the day flying a new Skywheels blade set. The pilots also reported the newly manufactured Skywheels blades flew and performed just as well as the original McCutchen Skywheels. To assist in making this comparison, each pilot flew a 25ft. original McCutchen Skywheels rotor blade set for twoweeks leading up to the test flight date. In addition, each pilot had flown the original McCutchen Skywheels for many years. Following an 18year production hiatus, Skywheels is back and being manufactured again. Skywheels is known as a highinertia gyroplane rotor blade system that has a performance and safety record dating back to its first flight in 1984. Since that time over 6,000 individual rotor blades were delivered under the trade names McCutchen Skywheels and Skywheels. Skywheels and Air Command Gyroplanes are perfectly paired together.
