DC motor as designed by Joseph Newman. By design I mean low current, high voltage, with segmented commutator.

This time I have a set of coils out of 26 awg enameled copper wire at 1257ft (minus about a foot for connecting wires). This has 57ohms of resistance.

Using 20 9v batteries in series. The batteries are very used (in my previous videos) so there is only 158.8v out of 180v that should be there.

So with 158.8v divided by 57ohms = 2.785964912281 amps. 9V batteries are not able to produce this much. My commutator pulses the coil 3 times per 180 degrees and then reverses the polarity and pulses 3 more times. 6 pulses per revolution. So the current is only being applied 1/6th of the time per revolution. 1/6th of 2.785964912281 = 0.46432748538, or 464.33mA. Now 9V Batteries can produce that much current. The current is probably much less because the commutator is rotating fast. I can only guess at it, but I believe it is at least 2000rpm's.
