Night and day with the moose

Hilltown Land Trust

Glimpses of moose in the night and the day on a conserved wetland in the Hilltowns.

Note the small stubby antlers of the first moose captured in June and the much larger, but still velvety antlers of the moose seen in late August. Soon those antlers will slow their growing process, and the velvet will begin to dry and fall away, leaving the hardened antlers behind for the fall and winter.

Video description:
With the soundtrack of frogs, birds, and bugs, you first see a young moose with small stubs for antlers in the darkness of an early summer morning, pausing to look up in the midst of a grassy wetland. Then the video cuts to the same wetland, now during the day much later in the summer. A larger moose with big, velvety antlers plods through the water.
