NIGHTMARE 100
When the leaves begin to fall we know the Nightmare is about to start!
2023 marks the 3rd annual Nightmare 100 and it did not disappoint!! 31 karts arrived early due to a fear of a 8pm rainout. Track held ample natural moisture all evening which kept the water truck to only 2 trips around the top through the evening. After 4 hard fought heat races the 16 kart AMain was set! 50 laps in, we catch the fuel stop with Jake Scott leading the way. Everyone takes 5 minutes to quickly top fuel tanks and make handling adjustments then it’s back in the kart for the last run. A few yellows and a few LONG runs put us with a greenwhitechecker to cap it off. When the track fell silent again it was Jake Scott #1 upfront taking the WIN, becoming the first ever 2stroke victory at a YKN event!!! Second place goes to last years winner Josh Cunningham #299 who fought hard from 10th to grab his step on the podium! Rounding out the top 3 is Matt Monday #15 who took the scenic route after getting dumped in the first 50 and driving back up through the pack!
We would also like to congratulate the podium for the “nonqualifier” Main the “Fearful 50”. This race is for anyone who didn’t transfer into the 100 lap AMain. Taking the win using top bottom and middle of the track was Josh Jones #116! Second goes to Aj ThunderBuddy Hobbs #5 who lead the majority of the race, just letting Josh slip by late. 3rd goes to everyone’s favorite racer Beau Hockgeiger #1 who battled beyond his years throwing an epic last lap slider to snag the last step on the podium!
