I have taken the plunge to get a Festool domino joiner so I use this method instead. It's no problem with making any angle of mortise and honestly holds super strong. Domino joinery is really just a quick way to do loose tenon joinery. You can definitely get away with saving the $1000.00 for now if there are other tools you'd need more.
