The heaven and hell message of a futuristic afterlife reward/punishment system is a carrot and stick control mechanism that relies on fear and guilt. However, this idea is merely a human invention used in religion motivated by power (ego). There are no such places, nor is there a system of reward and punishment in the afterlife. I don’t believe anyone goes to heaven or hell. I don’t believe heaven and hell are geographical, futuristic places. The reason I don’t believe in a heaven or hell is because I’ve directly experienced heaven and hell—right here, right now. If you’ve directly experienced something, believing in it becomes irrelevant. “Belief” is part of the carrot and stick system. To me, heaven and hell are states of the dualistic mind perceiving life. However, if we go beyond the finite mind, there is no “heaven” or “hell” because, beyond the finite mind, there is no duality; there’s just nondual awareness, existence, and life, free from the dream world of separateness.

Eckhart Tolle said, “Life has no opposite. The opposite of death is birth. Life is eternal.” Life, which is synonymous with everpresent moment, is “eternal” in the sense of being beyond linear time. In other words, “eternal” is not a time that has a beginning that goes on forever and ever. No, eternal is not just without end; it’s also without beginning, and if you truly examine the everpresent moment, you will discover that finding a beginning or end to it is impossible; why? Because it’s “eternal.” It’s timeless.

You can only have “heaven” if there is “hell.” They are two sides of the same coin, and without one, you wouldn’t know the other. That is how duality works.
