Noam Chomsky, an emeritus professor of linguistics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a wellknown political activist critical of U.S. foreign policy, traces modernday American imperialism to its earliest roots, 25 years before the American Revolution, and he explains how the United States has lived up to its reputation as "the most frightening and dangerous country in the world."
