Not All Fats Make You Fat

Follow
Goodbye Lupus by Brooke Goldner, M.D.

Not every fat you consume turns into body fat. It's not physiologically possible.
Some fats you eat become:
Energy
Cellular structures
Cellular membranes
Immune cells
Hormones
Assist absorption of fatsoluble vitamins
and more.
So it is entirely incorrect to assume all fats you consume become body fat.
There are fats you should avoid, because they increase inflammation, cholesterol, obesity, and diseases, like animal fats from meat, dairy, and eggs, as well as processed vegetable oils.
Fats from whole plant foods like chia and flax seeds are essential for human health. They create our antiinflammatory immune cells, optimize cellular communication, nutrient intake and toxin release, and are important for neuronal function for memory, nerve repair, moods and attention.
Avocados have been shown to help people with fat loss, by increased satiety, and also shown to cause a more significant decrease in cholesterol than diets with no fats added. They do not cause fat gain.
Demonizing fats can cause health problems. It can slow down or stop disease reversal, keep inflammation higher, slow down metabolic rates and keep people from losing fat even with exercise, and can cause people to feel voraciously hungry by bypassing the satiety signal release by fat intake (CCK).
So let's stay focused on the specifics and demonize the unhealthy fats, while we prioritize the lifesaving and metabolismboosting omega3s!
