I hope these simulations will bring more earthquake awareness around the world and educate the general public about potential earthquake related hazards. All these simulations take into consideration only the shaking caused in close proximity to the earthquake's epicenter. Also, a friendly reminder that for this video's purpose, I have shortened the actual duration of the simulation. Any earthquake over M 7.5 could last for more than a minute. The great Tohoku quake that hit Japan in March 2011 had a magnitude of 9 and lasted for about 5 minutes.

These earthquake simulations were created in Blender 3D with the Bullet Constraints Builder (BCB a structural simulation code made by Kai Kostack) which extends Blender´s basic physics functionality with a sophisticated toolset to simulate load dynamics in building structures.
