The purpose of this work is for the child to associate the symbol to the quantities the child already knows. This work also prepares the child for future addition, subtraction and multiplication work.

• The number rods
• A set of cards on which are printed the numbers 1 to 10.

Verifying the rod by counting is the control of error for this work, thus essential for child to verify each rod when the bring it.
