Just before the weather got really hot and dry, David Meyrick opened his garden for live steam running on 2nd July. As you can see from the video, the weather was typical for the UK with a mixture of sunshine and showers. However our enthusiasm was not dampened with many excellent runs including from some engines not seen before. Indeed the overcast weather enhanced the steam effects.

There are several passing shots. My favourite shows the contrast between David's slow moving GWR heavy goods engine on a long mixed freight train and John's LNER Shire racing past at the head of a set of teak coaches. For a time, John and Jack shared running on the outside. John driving a passenger train headed by LNER L1 and Jack driving a coal train of NER hoppers headed by a LNER J21. Jack would periodically draw into the goods avoiding line to allow the faster passenger train to pass so prototypical.
