June 16, 2022. A trio of Auburn University Cessna 172S Skyhawk SP’s are flying from Tallahassee International Airport to Lakeland Linder International Airport to participate in the Air Race Classic. The War Eagle Women, spirits high, are on the second leg of their journey after making a refueling stop in Tallahassee, when Team 65 experiences an emergency that pilots train for but hope to never experience – their engine has failed. The pilots soon realise they won’t make it back to Tallahassee, they’ll have to land the plane offairport. Watch and listen as the pilots and air traffic control coordinate to get the aircraft back on the ground safely.
