OHIO’s “What Were You Wearing?” Survivor Art Installation

Follow
Ohio University

This exhibit is comprised of stories of survivors of sexual assault and represents a significant collaboration of Ohio University’s Survivor Advocacy Program, Women’s Center, Campus Involvement Center, College of Fine Arts, Intersectional Feminist Alliance, Ambassadors to the Survivor Advocacy Program, and Student Senate. Using descriptions of clothing worn when survivors were sexually assaulted, organizers found apparel that closely mirrors those descriptions. The descriptions and the clothing are displayed as a challenge to the notion that what people are wearing causes sexual violence. The exhibit will be open for viewing until September 13, 2018 in the Trisolini Gallery on the 4th floor of Ohio University’s Baker University Center.
