In todays video we are going to be covering oil paint over acrylic paint, oil painting acrylic underpainting which is when you put oils over the top of dry acrylic paints. Also varnishing oil & acrylic paintings

Can you paint a oil painting over a acrylic underpainting? Can you paint oil over acrylic painting? Well the answer is YES!

In this video I am going to show you an oil painting over acrylic underpainting using two of my acrylic painting tutorials. That I apply oil paint to one and varnish it to make it look more professional.

I will show you the difference between oil and acrylic paintings. Before they are varnished. As Acrylics dry pretty flat. So by using oil paints over the top of acrylics. You can create a more realistic and more polished piece of art.

You can paint oil paint over acrylic paint but not acrylics over oils.

Can you paint oil over acrylic? Yep but not the other way round as acrylics would not set into the canvas due to the oils and chip away over time.

So oil over acrylic painting is fine. What about varnishing oil paintings and varnishing acrylic paintings?

Well I will show you a quick and easy way to varnish your work that leaves no mess or streaks. With a really easy oil painting varnishing techniques.
