Oktoberfest In Munich: Beers, Tents & History! A visit to Oktoberfest in Munich to experience the beer tents and to sample the Oktoberfesbier of each of the 6 major Munich breweries represented at Oktoberfest; Hofbräu, Augustiner, HackerPschorr, Spaten, Paulaner and Löwenbräu.

The Beer Necessities series makes a trip to Munich to visit the annual Oktoberfest, the most famous festival in the world! We discuss the history of Oktoberfest, tour the major beer tents and sample the Oktoberfest beers of each of the 6 major Munich beers represented at Oktoberfest. We even visit the Hofbräu brewery to see their Oktoberfestbier being brewed...and to taste it that beer at source!

We start by visiting the Abbey of St. Boniface in Munich for a brief history of the Oktoberfest, which has existed since 1810. At the Abbey lies King Ludwig I and his his wife, Therese of SaxeHildburghausen, whose wedding in October 1810 was the catalyst for Oktoberfest.
