Episode 33 (Part 3) We reach our final destination, the historic city of Nizwa via the Hajar Mountains on this Oman road trip series. The Hajar Mountains are known as "the Grand Canyon of Arabia" and require a 4wd to drive through.

Our first stop is Little Snake Canyon Wadi a famous destination for hiking and absailing through the gorge with aweinspiring tall cliffs, impressively narrow paths and swimming through blue pools.

We drive up high along steep narrow dirt roads that has only enough room for one car with the cliff edge only a few feet away from the car tyres. 4WD trips don't get much better than this, the stunning views from here are something else. This epic journey is one of the highlights of Oman....If your nerves can take it!

Eventually we arrive in a mountain village called Bilat Sayt. We spend a few hours looking around before we make our way up to Jebel Hatt which is over 2000m above sea level to camp for the night.

The next day we drive into Nizwa which is famous for its Souq and Fort. Here you will experience ancient traditional customs that are still practiced to this day and the best way to see this is at the Nizwa goat market. Next to the goat market is the Nizwa Souq and here you will find the best varieties of Halwa in all Oman. To finish our trip, we walk to the historic Nizwa Fort and learn about its history and the importance it played in protecting Omans's trading routes for centuries.
