Max worries that Al misses Gabrielle. Max is determined to get custody of Al when Gabrielle gets out of prison. Viki overhears Roger admitting to Megan that he still loves Viki. Megan wonders if Viki reciprocates his feelings. Roger explains that he won’t come between Clint. When Megan agrees to consider getting to know Viki, Viki appears from the bushes behind Roger and Megan believes the whole thing was a setup. Viki insists she is to blameshe was walking through the woods with Tina and heard their voicesand that this was not planned by her or Roger. Megan refuses to believe her and she storms off.

Bo tells Sarah he has to postpone their dinner date, but he doesn’t explain why. Later, Bo visits a fortune teller. Back at the Waterside Inn, the fortune teller brings Sarah a message from Bo and insists Sarah come with her. She leads Sarah back to her shop where Bo, disguised as a fortune teller himself, offers to tell Sarah her future. Renee is trapped under a fallen beam in the Buchanan stables. With the roof collapsing around them, Asa struggles to free Renee. Austin returns and protects Renee from the falling debris then helps Asa free her just in the nick of time. Despite his help, Asa refuses to thank Austin and accuses him of causing the cave in.

Roger is relieved when Viki tells him she only overheard the end of his conversation with Megan. Viki worries she may have blown her one chance with Megan. Tina arrives and tells Viki she needs to come see what’s happened at her cabin. Bo, disguised as a fortune teller, tells Sarah her future is very promising and that she has found her ideal man. Sarah begins to catch onto his act and pretends to be disinterested in Bo. She admits Bo did have her going for a minute there. Max surprises Megan in her hotel room with a romantic dinner. Megan explains she’s in no mood right now and tells him what happened on Llantano Mountain. Max comforts her and she says she doesn’t need him. Max kisses her but she says she has too much going on to deal with him right now. Max agrees to leave, but says he won’t give up on her..

At the Waterside Inn, Renee catches up to Austin and tries to convince him to stay in town. He insists there’s nothing for him here and he ought to head back to Cherokee County, Texas. Bo and Sarah arrive at the Inn and Renee introduces them to Austin, who seems quite taken with Sarah. Bo recounts when he and Austin fought over a girl back in their school days. Later, Austin tells Renee he’s reconsidering staying in town to catch up with Bo. Tina, Roger, and Viki arrive at the cabin and discover it has been ransacked by treasure hunters, spurred on by Melinda Cramer’s reports of hidden gold on Llantano Mountain. They prepare to go to the ranger station and put an end to the gold rush when a prospector arrives and tells them he’s laid claim to the cabin and they need to leave. They try to get the man to leave, but he pulls a gun and threatens Roger’s life.
