Today, I talk about how to find your own voice as a businesswoman (or man) in sales in order to build real connections with your ideal clients. Allow me to be your sales coach today and let me tell you why it is important to have authentic conversations.

I recently attended a virtual networking meeting and I've got to say, I was shocked to see people introducing themselves — literally eyes downcast — reading off of a script on an index card.

I know it can be hard for a lot of us to find our authentic voice. But we all have to start somewhere. I’ve seen a lot of people in similar situations — having had my fair share of networking meetings and sales conversations as a sales coach and a businesswoman. And it can get really painful to hear and see people who are unable to get out of their heads — you can really tell.

What we want to achieve here is really being able to know what you want to say and how you want to say it, so that you can connect to people on a genuine level when talking about yourself and your business.

It’s so easy nowadays to just follow the lead of slick online marketing experts and their sales hype that’s been designed to feed into our emotions. And it's easy to think that this is the only way to get people’s attention.

The truth is, once you try them out, they often just lead to feeling uncomfortable and inauthentic — you lose YOUR VOICE. And as a businesswoman and sales coach, I'm here to tell you that I know YOU have really important things to say and ideas to share. And it’s a shame if you lose all that, because that is what gets other people into authentic conversations, and foster real connections with you.

The more real you are, the more that you will attract the right clients who you actually want to do business with.
